Taking Advantage Of Solar Power For Off-Grid Properties.
Some property owners have a cabin or other structure for their vacation home. It may be quite removed from utility services. While camping without any power or water services is sometimes the whole point of living off-grid, we are having a lot of people ask us about putting solar on their off-grid vacation home. It does raise some issues. For example, a battery backup system would be necessary to store your power. It also becomes harder to find a company that is willing to travel to your location to do an installation. We have found that there are some “DIY (do it yourself) clients who just consult with us about how to go about putting the solar panels on their vacation home themselves. Sometimes this is a good option. We do have resources to refer you for buying all of your supplies needed to do it yourself. We can look at doing the install for you. One thing to consider is that installing a system yourself, may limit the warranty or service contracts that come with using an established company. The panels may not have their warranty enforced if you don’t have a licensed contractor install them. However, some people are already a licensed electrician and can qualify as an appropriate installer. Particular installers sometimes have limitations in terms of the geographic locations they can or are willing to serve. But, we are happy to discuss your project with you and get you pointed in the right direction. CLICK HERE to schedule a phone consultation.
