I  have Too many children

Going Solar right now, is often contingent on qualifying for the Federal tax credit. We only have a couple more years for this program unless it is renewed.  However, some families who have many dependents are receiving a tax credit already.  In this case you may not qualify for additional tax credits.  The IRS will not pay you to go solar directly. They pay you via a credit on your owed taxes. If you don’t owe taxes, the program will not help you. Having a large family can reduce your tax liability to the point of not owing any tax in a particular year. Minnis Solar Consultants, LLC are NOT tax advisors. We recommend talking to a tax specialist about your situation if needed. If you have questions you would like to discuss, feel free to schedule a phone consultation to discuss your situation further.

I own my business and don’t have tax liability at the end of the year

The second most common reason we have found that families end up not qualifying for the Federal tax credit for going solar is because they own a business. They often have a tax status of Sole Proprietor and are able to deduct their business tax liability on their personal taxes.  We  also  have businesses who consult their tax attorney about the implications of going solar on their business or how it can affect their personal taxes.  Again, we are not licensed tax professionals, so specifics about your situation should be directed toward a tax professional.  The bottom line is that if you don’t owe taxes at the end of the year, there will not be a tax credit for going solar because you owe no taxes. If you have questions questions feel free to schedule a phone consulataion.
