Cities That Dont like Solar Power
Some cities have their own power company. As such, they are not quick to be helpful with permitting for solar. Its a way to discourage solar in their service area. Its harder for them financially because they are a smaller entity. Losing customer revenue when they go solar hurts their bottom line. Although, it can help yours. Its more complicated.
We Work With City Power companies
From a business perspective , we understand the challenges a city may have. Therefore, we do our best to support our clients, but work with the city to get the permits needed. Cities may need to look at imposing a higher monthly account maintenance fee. Cities can also impose a lower rate of compensation for over-production which reverts back to the city at the end of the calendar year, or during the course of the current year. Every city that allows solar installationhas thier own specific agreement with the residents of their city. This can make it important to design a system that does not over-produce at all. One way to deal with this is to install a battery backup system so that you store your own power and it never goes back to the grid in the first place. It does make it harder for it to dollar out to go solar due to the increased cost of installing the battery backup system, but we are still able to help make it possible to go solar. We are seeing a lot of residents going solar in cities where there is a small local power company. I could name some of the cities here in Utah, but we will avoid that controversy and stay neutral on this subject. Schedule a consultation if you would like to discuss your specific situation or expereince.
